The job involves:-
Managing the acquisition of raw materials and goods by identifying needs, sourcing and evaluating suppliers, negotiating prices and contracts, and managing the purchasing budget to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities supplier relationship management, purchase order processing, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with company policies. This role is crucial for minimizing waste, increasing profits, and optimizing supply chain efficiency within our organization. You would be reporting to the Finance Manager with direct control under the Operations Department.
Key Responsibilities
· Needs Assessment:
Identifying what raw materials, goods, services, or equipment the business needs using our back office system and direct requirements from the business.
· Supplier Sourcing & Evaluation:
Researching, identifying, and evaluating potential vendors to find the most suitable products and prices. Arrange samples, quotes and lead-times for prospective new suppliers/ingredients.
· Negotiation & Contracting:
Negotiating favourable terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure quality.
· Purchase Order Management:
Creating, issuing, and tracking purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods.
· Quality Control:
Monitoring the quality of goods and services to ensure they meet company standards and customer needs.
· Cost Management:
Managing the procurement budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and maintaining accurate purchase records.
· Supplier Relationship Management:
Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and new suppliers. To resolve any supplier issues, holding regular meetings with suppliers to ensure we are up to date with lead times, pricing and new product offerings. Issue annual questionnaires to our suppliers to ensure their satisfaction and compliance.
· Market Research:
Staying informed on market trends, pricing, and emerging suppliers to make informed purchasing decisions.
· Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensuring purchases comply with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements, while mitigating supply chain risks. To maintain all current documentation including Organic, food certifications, HACCP/ISO/GMP, MSDS, Technical Data Sheets, Allergen Statements, Vegan/Vegetarian Statements. Keep up to date with all import agreements/customs and HMRC requirements.
· Internal Coordination:
Liaising with other departments, such as finance, marketing, production and fulfilment, to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
Purpose of the Role
The main purpose of a purchasing executive is to ensure the business acquires necessary goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively, ultimately contributing to increased profitability, reduced waste, and a more efficient supply chain.

- Experience working in food manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

Salary: 35k per annum based on a 37.5 hour working week, company pension, overtime.
30 minute lunch break.
