Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant (Chartered Certified Accountant) to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing financial records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role also involves ATOL reporting for our aviation and travel clients. ARA (ATOL Reporting Accountant) status is preferable but not essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in financial management and accounting software to contribute to organisational growth and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse financial statements in accordance with recognised accounting standards (UK GAAP / IFRS)
- Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments
- Oversee daily financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other relevant systems
- Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate ledgers to support financial reporting requirements
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations including Corporation Tax, VAT, and Self-Assessment filings
- Prepare and file VAT returns, ensuring accurate and timely submissions
- Assist with ATOL Accountants' Reports (AAR) for aviation and travel clients
- Liaise with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on behalf of ATOL holders when required
- Ensure Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance for all clients
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff, fostering professional development within the team
- Collaborate with external auditors during audit processes to facilitate smooth reporting procedures
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships effectively
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial management processes to enhance efficiency
Experience
- Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA / ACA) – fully qualified
- ACCA Practising Certificate (UK) – mandatory
- Proven experience in financial accounting within a professional practice environment
- Knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other relevant systems
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, accounts preparation, and general ledger maintenance
- Experience with Corporation Tax, VAT, and Self-Assessment filings
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members is highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines
- ARA (ATOL Reporting Accountant) status is preferable but not essential
Pay: £34,440.00-£38,000.00 per year
