Department: Learning & Development / McSence Training
Location: McSence Business Park, Mayfield, Dalkeith with travel across Midlothian, Edinburgh and Scottish Borders
Reporting to: Training Manager
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent Full Time/Part time roles available
Driver Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence and access to vehicle with business insurance essential
PURPOSE OF ROLE
McSence Training is seeking an experienced and motivated Health & Social Care & Manual Handling Trainer to support workforce development across internal services and external clients.
The successful candidate will lead delivery of mandatory Health & Social Care training programmes, induction training and Moving & Handling provision whilst supporting ongoing development of learning programmes, National Induction Framework mapping and commercial training opportunities.
Although First Aid training experience would be welcomed, this is not essential as external delivery arrangements can be utilised where required.
Training at McSence is focused on practical skills transfer and improving outcomes for staff and service users rather than classroom-based presentation delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Social Care Training Delivery
Deliver and maintain training including:
- Adult Support & Protection
- Safeguarding
- Medication Awareness / Administration
- Infection Prevention & Control
- Personal Care
- Continence Care
- Pressure Area Care
- Dementia Awareness and Communication
- Nutrition & Hydration
- Equality, Diversity and Human Rights
- Professional Boundaries
- Fire Safety
- Food Hygiene
- Health & Safety
- SSSC Values and Standards
- Induction programmes
- National Induction Framework aligned learning
- Social Care induction pathways
Manual Handling Lead Responsibilities
Lead development and delivery of:
- Moving & Handling People
- Moving & Handling Objects
- Practical competency assessments
- Refresher programmes
- Train-the-trainer support where required
- Scottish Manual Handling Passport (desirable)
- Risk reduction and safe practice initiatives
Support expansion of Manual Handling training opportunities internally and externally.
Programme Development & Improvement
The postholder will:
- Develop and review course materials
- Support digital and blended learning development
- Assist mapping of McSence induction to National Induction Framework outcomes
- Support workforce development initiatives
- Assist future SVQ / RPL development activity where appropriate
- Contribute to commercial growth opportunities
- Maintain legislative compliance and best practice
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Teaching qualification (AET / PTLLS / equivalent or higher)
- Relevant Health & Social Care qualification
- Manual Handling Trainer qualification or demonstrable experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
DESIRABLE
- Scottish Manual Handling Passport qualification / experience
- First Aid Instructor qualification
- Assessing qualification (L&D9 / D32 / D33 / equivalent)
- Mental Health First Aid
- Internal Verification experience
- SQA experience
