High Voltage Project Manager
Location: Nationwide / Hybrid (UK)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced High Voltage Project Manager to join a growing engineering contractor delivering complex power infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an ambitious business operating within the HV utilities and renewable energy sectors, delivering projects ranging from 11kV to 132kV. You'll oversee projects from initial planning through to commissioning and final handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
As High Voltage Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple electrical infrastructure projects, managing programmes, commercial performance, client relationships, and site teams.
Projects will include:
- Grid Connections
- High Voltage Substations
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Solar & Renewable Energy Projects
- Industrial & Private HV Networks
- Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of HV projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover
- Manage project programmes, budgets, forecasts, and resource planning
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual requirements
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers, site managers, subcontractors, and commissioning personnel
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Monitor project performance, identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to manage variations, valuations, and project profitability
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, HSEQ standards, and industry best practice
- Chair project progress meetings and provide regular reporting to senior management
- Support tender reviews, project planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We're looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background delivering high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing HV electrical projects from 11kV to 132kV
- Previous experience delivering projects within DNO, ICP, IDNO, utilities, renewable energy, or power sectors
- Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure, substations, grid connections, and commissioning activities
- Excellent programme, budget, and commercial management skills
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- AP or SAP experience
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Prince2, APM, or other Project Management qualification
- Experience working on National Grid, renewable energy, or battery storage projects
