The Woolpack is a traditional country pub and restaurant with a history dating back to 1621.
Known as one of Burgess Hill’s hidden gems, we pride ourselves on offering a warm
welcome, freshly prepared food, quality service and a relaxed atmosphere for both locals

Our kitchen serves fresh food throughout the pub and garden using locally sourced
ingredients wherever possible to serve a full menu, including Sunday Roasts. Set within a
characterful farmhouse and Sussex barn, The Woolpack combines traditional pub charm
with a busy and professional kitchen environment.
The Role
We are excited to be looking for an experienced and passionate Chef de Partie to join our busy pub/ restaurant kitchen team in Burgess Hill.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled chef who enjoys working with fresh food in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering consistently high standards. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen while working alongside a friendly and professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to a high standard during service
- Maintain consistency, quality and portion control across all menu items
- Ensure food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness standards are maintained at all times
- Assist with stock rotation, food storage and kitchen organisation
- Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to menu development and daily specials
- Assist with buffet catering, hog roasts and summer BBQs
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience as a line chef, chef de partie or similar role within a pub, restaurant, or hospitality venue
- Experience working in a fast-paced fresh food kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
- Reliable, organised and able to work well as part of a team
- Positive attitude with a genuine passion for food and hospitality
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends (shifts run from 10am-10pm)
