About the Role
Are you an experienced Plant Fitter, HGV Mechanic, or Agricultural Engineer looking to step away from the tools and move into a fast-paced workshop coordination role?
We are a leading plant manufacturer looking for a Service Controller to join our team. This role is the vital link between our clients, field service engineers, and the workshop. Your technical background will be crucial here, you won’t just be scheduling diaries; you will truly understand the breakdowns, parts, and labour required to get the job done right.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day scheduling and dispatching of field service engineers and workshop technicians.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer breakdowns, using your mechanical knowledge to diagnose issues over the phone where possible.
- Oversee service jobs from initial call-out through to completion, ensuring parts are ordered and labor hours are accurately logged.
- Keep key clients updated on repair timescales, estimates, and ongoing maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all service reports, compliance paperwork, and warranty claims are processed accurately.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, HGV Mechanic, heavy vehicle technician, or agricultural engineer.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to transition from a hands-on mechanical role into an office/coordination environment.
- Ability to speak the language of both engineers and corporate clients confidently.
- A calm approach to handling urgent breakdowns and logistical puzzles.
- Comfortable learning new service management software and using standard MS Office.
