NOW Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated Level 2 and Level 3 Teaching Assistants to work across a cluster of highly regarded SEND schools in East Birmingham.
These welcoming and supportive specialist settings cater for children and young people across both primary and secondary age ranges with a variety of additional needs, including:
- Complex needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Communication and sensory needs
The schools provide nurturing, inclusive and communication-focused learning environments, with personalised curriculums designed to ensure every pupil can access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Teaching Assistants who can provide high-quality support across a range of specialist SEND settings.
You will work closely with teachers, therapists and wider school staff to support pupils with their learning, communication, personal development and emotional wellbeing. Opportunities are available across both primary and secondary age groups, with assignments ranging from day-to-day cover to longer-term placements.
You may be required to provide one-to-one support, work with small groups or support whole-class learning depending on the needs of the school and pupils.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who:
- Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or have relevant SEND experience
- Have experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- Are passionate about supporting pupils with SEND to achieve their full potential
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Are patient, adaptable and resilient
- Can support pupils with learning, communication, sensory and personal care needs where required
- Are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
Applications are welcomed from experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, mainstream Teaching Assistants looking to transition into specialist education, and individuals with relevant experience in care, support work or youth services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions
- Assist teachers in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with communication and engagement strategies
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour
- Assist with personal care where required
- Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams
