We are looking for a professional, proactive and approachable Security Officer to join our dedicated Bath BID Night Marshal team. This is a unique and highly rewarding role where no two shifts are the same.
As a Bath BID Night Marshal, you will act as an ambassador for Bath BID, Venture Security and the city’s business community, helping to create a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment for residents, visitors and local businesses. You will provide a visible reassurance presence, help reduce anti-social behaviour and low-level crime, support vulnerable individuals and work closely with partner agencies to maintain Bath’s reputation as a safe and thriving night-time economy.
This role offers a varied working pattern based on your availability, primarily focused on evening patrols, with additional opportunities to support the city’s late-night Safe Bus alongside paramedics and partner agencies.
Strong communication skills, sound judgement, professionalism and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.
The role
- Ambassadorial & Community Engagement
- Represent Bath BID and Venture Security in a professional and approachable manner
- Engage positively with businesses, residents and visitors
- Provide reassurance and support within the city centre and night-time economy
- Patrols & Public Safety
- Conduct high-visibility foot patrols across Bath city centre
- Help deter anti-social behaviour, violence and disorder
- Monitor and respond to developing situations and support vulnerable individuals
- Incident Response & Conflict Management
- Respond professionally to incidents and emergencies
- Use communication and de-escalation techniques to manage situations safely
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and work within SIA guidelines
- Operate Body Worn CCTV and complete interventions lawfully and proportionately
- Partnership Working
- Work collaboratively with Police, CCTV operators, Bath Safe Bus and partner agencies
- Support licensed venues, hotels and businesses during busy periods
- Maintain effective communication through CityLink radio systems
- Reporting & Technology
- Complete accurate incident reports and documentation
- Use reporting systems, radios and security technology effectively
- Ensure body worn camera footage is correctly managed and stored
- Welfare & Vulnerability Support
- Support vulnerable or intoxicated individuals with a calm and compassionate approach
- Signpost individuals to relevant support services where appropriate
Assist with safeguarding and bystander intervention when required
Working hours
· Primarily evening and late-night shifts
· Typical Night Marshal hours: Friday & Saturday, 10:30pm – 4:30am
· Additional evening shifts available: 5:00pm – 10:00pm
· Working across a rota including weekends and Bank Holidays
· Opportunities for additional daytime hours covering sickness and annual leave

What we need
- A current, valid SIA licence (Door Supervisor or Close Protection)
- First Aid at Work qualification
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and full vetting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
- Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills
- A professional, confident and approachable manner
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good report writing skills

Work Location: In person
