Milford Care are looking for a part-time experienced cook to join our fantastic, hard-working team at one of our care homes, Milford House. All applicants must have a Food Safety Level 2 certificate and experience working within a care environment would be desired, but not a necessity.
Details of this cook position and what the home is offering:
· 3 shifts per week over a 7 day rota (overtime may be available) 30-40 hours per week
· Alternate weekends
· Shift time 6.30am-2.30pm
· £13.39 per hour

Purpose of Position
· To prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment.
· To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage.
· To operate and supervise other staff in order that all purchases are controlled within a budget set by the Management.
· To ensure that the Kitchen areas are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
Responsibilities
· To maintain a balance diet and varied menus.
· To be aware of the Residents dietary needs and preferences.
· To discuss the with Nurse in charge special dietary needs and incorporate these into the daily menus.
· To ensure that all kitchen staff are trained within the requirements of current legislation.
· To ensure that all kitchen staff are issued with the correct uniform and that this is maintained in good repair and in a clean hygienic condition.
· To ensure that the cleaning schedules issued by the management are strictly adhered to.
· To ensure that all kitchen areas are left in clean hygienic state at the end of each shift.
· To be responsible for checking the hours worked by the Kitchen staff.
· To maintain all kitchen equipment, as specified by the respective manufacturers and to report any malfunctions to the Nurse in charge / Proprietors.
· To take part in staff meetings when necessary.
· To undergo further training or updating as required.
· To inform and teach other kitchen staff of any updating in legislation as and when necessary.
· To maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care and management of the home.
· To perform any other such reasonable duties as may be required.
What We Are Looking For In a Chef at our care home:
· You may have some experience in a UK nursing home setting, but it is not essential.
· You will be compassionate and respectful and able to build relationships with colleagues
