Peaceful Place is a day centre for people of working age and older living with dementia.
Our aim is to help our members live their best lives by offering a welcoming space with a variety of engaging activities, social opportunities, and support throughout the day.
We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us with the following duties:
- To collect our members from their home addresses in the morning and drive them to our day centre in Basildon.
- To drive our members home at approximately 3.15pm.
- Carry out a vehicle check before commencing journey.
- To report any defects.
You will need to have the following skills:
- Have held a full clean driving licence for at least two years.
- Good communication skills are required, and you will need to have patience and understanding of our members needs.
- Experience of working with people who may be frail, have mobility issues, be sensory impaired or be living with memory loss would be beneficial but is not required.
- Knowledge of the local area, first aid and manual handling would be beneficial but is not essential as training will be provided.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role (we will cover the cost)
You will need to have a kind, caring and patient nature and be empathetic to our members.
If you can spare a few hours a week to help, we would love to hear from you. We are happy for you to specify if you can do a morning or afternoon driving shift.
We have a friendly and welcoming team here at the Peaceful Place day centre and we will support you as a volunteer if you choose to help us.
