Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Technical Account Manager to join their technical team and act as the key link between customers and the wider business.
Position Summary
The Technical Account Manager will play a key role in maintaining strong retailer relationships, managing quality concerns, supporting audits, and ensuring technical compliance across the business.
This is a customer-facing position suited to an experienced technical professional from a chilled food or fresh produce background who is confident dealing directly with major supermarkets and retailer technical teams.
The successful candidate will work closely with Technical, Operations, Quality, and Commercial departments to ensure customer expectations, food safety standards, and business objectives are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical contact for customer accounts and retailer relationships
- Liaise directly with supermarkets and customer technical teams regarding quality, compliance, and performance matters
- Handle customer quality issues, complaints, investigations, and corrective actions
- Lead and support customer audits, site visits, and technical inspections
- Escort customers and auditors around the factory during visits and audits
- Prepare and maintain technical KPI reports, corrective action plans, and compliance documentation
- Review and communicate retailer codes of practice and technical requirements across the business
- Conduct trend analysis and provide feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage customer portals and ensure all information is updated accurately
- Support complaint reduction initiatives and quality improvement activities
- Attend customer meetings and represent the technical function professionally
- Work closely with Operations, NPD, and Commercial teams to support launches and customer requirements
- Promote and maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and compliance throughout the site
- Support HACCP processes and food safety management systems
- Ensure all auditing activities are completed to retailer and industry standards
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience within a Technical Account Manager or customer-facing technical role
- Experience dealing directly with major UK supermarkets and retailer technical teams
- Strong background within chilled food, fresh produce, or food manufacturing
- Experience managing customer quality concerns and complaint investigations
- Previous auditing experience within a food manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety systems
- Ability to confidently host customer visits and factory tours
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Commercial awareness and understanding of customer expectations
Desirable
- Food Safety qualifications
- HACCP qualification
- Experience within ready-to-eat or fresh food manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of retailer portals and reporting systems
