SEN Teaching Assistant In a Special School:
An OFSTED rated Outstanding SEN primary school in Barnet, near North Finchley is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to work with children aged between 2 and 11. The school prides itself in being an inclusive community celebrating diversity supporting children with moderate to severe learning difficulties including Autism, and complex learning needs including physical and sensory.
The role would be a combination of supporting small class sizes of 6-9 children depending on the need of the children therefore being flexible and active within the role is key. The school focuses vastly on providing therapy and well-being services to support the individual needs of the child and to promote their independence. These involve sensory and soft play suites, hydro therapy swimming pools, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy also!

The ideal SEN Teacher for this role should:
- Have experience or passion for working with children with SEN (particularly autism)
- Be flexible, proactive and patient
- Be open with providing personal care
- Be able to communicate effectively within a team
- Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.
- Training or experience in non-verbal communication is preferred, but a willingness to learn is essential. For example Makaton, PECS
