A specialist Further Education / college provision in Kingston is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 16–25 with a range of complex communication and learning needs, with a strong focus on independence, life skills, and preparation for adulthood.
About the Role
As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, you will:
- Assess, plan, and deliver individual and group communication interventions
- Support learners with needs including Autism (ASC), SLD, PMLD, SEMH, and SLCN
- Develop and implement functional communication strategies, including AAC systems
- Promote independent communication, social interaction, and life skills development
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, transition planning, and multi-agency reports
- Work closely with lecturers, support staff, occupational therapists, and wider MDT
- Deliver training and coaching to staff to embed communication strategies across the college
- Support learners in building communication skills for adulthood, education, and employment pathways
Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration – essential
- Experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
- Experience working with young people or adults with SEN
- Strong knowledge of AAC, functional communication, and complex needs
- Ability to manage a caseload independently in an FE setting
- Excellent communication and MDT collaboration skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience working in a college or FE environment
- Knowledge of vocational learning and preparation for adulthood programmes
- Experience supporting learners with multi-sensory or complex needs

Pay: £34,364.62-£51,822.42 per year
