Position Overview
Our Machine Operators play a vital role in ensuring the precision, quality, and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. We are currently looking for Beam Saw Operatives to join our growing team at Sherburn in Elmet.
Whether you have previous experience operating beam saws or other production machinery, or you’re looking to expand your skills in a manufacturing environment, we offer full training!

What You Will Be Doing
As a Beam Saw Operative, you’ll ensure materials are cut accurately and efficiently to meet production requirements. Your responsibilities may include:
- Carrying out routine checks of machinery to ensure safe operation
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all machinery
- Setting up the beam saw correctly for different product types
- Monitoring machinery throughout the shift to ensure consistent performance
- Checking output meets required volume, quality, and specification
- Identifying faults, diagnosing issues, and taking corrective action
- Reporting and escalating technical problems when required
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workspace
- Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in producing high‑quality work, enjoys technical tasks, and wants to develop specialist machine skills.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are reliable, motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards.
Ideal candidates will:
- Have experience as a Machine Operative, Beam Saw Operative, or in a similar role (desirable but not essential)
- Be confident working with machinery (training provided)
- Have strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Follow clear instructions and established processes
- Work well as part of a team
- Be proactive in identifying and resolving issues
- Be tidy and organised with a focus on safety
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and leaders
