Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery School Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals tailored to young children’s dietary needs within a nursery setting. Duties
- Plan, prepare, and cook healthy meals and snacks suitable for nursery-aged children, ensuring nutritional standards are met.
- Supervise food production activities, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety throughout all kitchen operations.
- Manage the kitchen team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure efficient workflow and quality control.
- Oversee food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of ingredients to comply with health regulations.
- Coordinate with nursery staff to accommodate specific dietary requirements or allergies among children.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist with menu planning based on seasonal ingredients and nutritional guidelines.
- Serve meals in a friendly manner, ensuring children are encouraged to develop positive eating habits.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a hospitality or kitchen environment.
- Supervising experience or team management skills are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations relevant to childcare settings.
- Previous experience working in a nursery, school kitchen, or similar environment is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise staff effectively and foster teamwork.
- Good communication skills to liaise with nursery staff and parents as needed.
