Job description
Senior Assistant Psychologist
Based in Oadby, Leicestershire.
There is opportunity for remote working for candidates who wish, and a minimum expectation to be in the office one day per week (subject to the needs of the business). There will be also be an expectation for occasional travel to other sites (expenses paid) to fulfil assessments on behalf of NHS contracts.
Annual Salary: £26,500 pro rata
As a service, we are proud to support our Assistant Psychologists to develop the experiences and knowledge that prepare them for further training.
Due to two of our current Senior Assistant Psychologists securing a position on the clinical doctorate, we are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and well-motivated Senior AP's to join our clinical team in supporting the delivery of our services. Anticipated start date is August 2026.
Under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, the role of the AP will be to directly support the assessment of Autism, for both children and adults. You will work alongside other professional disciplines. Your role may include taking developmental histories, co-facilitating the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and contributing to report writing. Where appropriate, you may also complete school/home observations, as well as facilitate and score cognitive assessments, or other measures.
Depending on your experience and suitable client referrals, there may also be the opportunity to offer psychological therapy to a small number of clients.
In addition to the clinical work, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to service development and research.
In accordance with professional practice guidelines, you will receive regular supervision with a clinical psychologist. As part of your post, we will also provide appropriate training (e.g., ADOS) and allow adequate time for professional development opportunities.
Essential Criteria:
Please apply if you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
- Previous experience as an assistant psychologist or equivalent
- Understanding and experience of working with people with Autism
- Effective communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
- ADOS Training or other training in neuro assessment
- Training in psychological therapy such as IAPT, PWP.
