Churchtown Medical Centre are seeking a motivated individual, seeking a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to develop their administrative career within a professional setting.
Duties will include -
- Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner and assist with enquiries at reception and over the phone.
- Use the GP surgery clinical system (e.g., EMIS) to book, amend, and cancel appointments.
- Support patients in navigating online services such as repeat prescriptions, NHS App access, and online appointment requests.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow GDPR/NHS data protection guidelines at all times.
- Register new patients, update records, and process changes of personal details.
- Handle incoming calls promptly, including appointment queries, test results (following protocol), and general practice information.
- Deal with patient requests such as prescription queries, sick note requests, and general administrative forms, directing them to the appropriate team member.
- Manage the waiting room environment, ensuring patients are checked in and any issues are escalated to clinical staff.
- Support the reception and administrative team with day-to-day tasks such as preparing recall letters, sorting post, or assisting clinics.
- Follow practice procedures, safeguarding policies, and infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Work towards completing apprenticeship requirements, including training modules, assessments, and regular reviews.
Training
This is a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship and on successful completion, the qualification will be gained in 15-18months. All training will take place at the workplace via tutor led monthly sessions.

Weekly hours - 20 - 37.5 hours (flexible)
Salary - will be set from apprentice minimum wage, £7.55 per hour to begin - this is subject to rise based on age/experience & can be discussed on successful interview.
Future prospects - Full time permanent position available with advancement opportunities.
