Direct Mail Production Controller
Location: Woolwich, London
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE
We are currently recruiting for a Direct Mail Production Controller to join a growing print, fulfilment and mailing business based in Woolwich.
This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody with a strong background in direct mail, mailing services or mailing house operations who is looking to play a key role within a busy production environment.
The successful candidate will act as the link between production, data, fulfilment and postal providers, ensuring campaigns are planned, processed and dispatched accurately, efficiently and in line with client expectations.
The Role
You will be responsible for coordinating and controlling a wide range of direct mail campaigns, ensuring production schedules are maintained, postal requirements are met and campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of mailing processes, postal regulations and production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating direct mail campaigns from instruction through to final dispatch
- Managing production schedules and ensuring campaigns remain on track
- Liaising with internal production, fulfilment and data teams to ensure smooth delivery of projects
- Advising on the most suitable mailing solutions and postal routes for campaigns
- Working closely with Royal Mail, DSA providers and mailing partners
- Ensuring all mailing documentation, specifications and compliance requirements are completed accurately
- Reviewing mailing data, formats, weights and pack specifications to identify potential issues before production
- Monitoring campaign progress and communicating updates to internal stakeholders
- Assisting with campaign costing and production planning
- Supporting process improvements and helping to develop best practices within the mailing operation
- Managing multiple campaigns simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail
Requirements
- Previous experience within a direct mail, mailing house, fulfilment or print production environment
- Strong understanding of Royal Mail and DSA services
- Knowledge of postal formats, sortation, mailing compliance and postage optimisation
- Experience working with high-volume mailing campaigns
- Knowledge of Deutsche Post or international mailing services would be highly advantageous
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
- Proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
