We are seeking an experienced and motivated construction professional to join our school as an Instructor (Unqualified Teacher) to deliver our Level 2 Construction and the Built Environment Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong industry experience who is passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. The successful candidate will bring practical expertise, enthusiasm and a commitment to high-quality vocational education. You will deliver engaging lessons, lead hands-on workshop activities and support students in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for future apprenticeships, further study or employment in the construction sector.
This role is offered under the Instructor (Unqualified Teacher) category within the Education (Specified Work) (England) Regulations 2012. Training, support and ongoing professional development will be provided.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching and practical instruction in Construction and the Built Environment
- Planning and preparing lessons and learning materials aligned to the Level 2 qualification
- Demonstrating safe and effective use of tools, equipment and workshop spaces
- Assessing students’ work and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Supporting students’ progress, engagement and personal development
- Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Technology department and wider school
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience in the construction industry
- Can demonstrate strong practical skills and up-to-date industry knowledge
- Communicates clearly and can explain concepts and techniques effectively
- Enjoys working with young people and is committed to helping them succeed
- Is willing to undertake training and development
Hours: This role is required 4 days per week. In the first year, this will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, though the specific days could change in subsequent years of the role.
