Clinical Director (Veterinary Surgeon) - Blackheath
Lead a brand-new clinic | Shape the culture from day one
If You're Ready to Build Something That Reflects Your Standards
If you have ever felt constrained by systems you did not design, or wished you could create a clinic that truly reflects how veterinary care should be delivered, this could be the role that changes everything.
The Opportunity
We are working with a forward-thinking veterinary group opening a brand-new, purpose-built clinic in Blackheath. This is not about stepping into someone else’s structure. It is about shaping one from the ground up.
They are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon who wants to lead, influence, and build. Someone who cares as much about clinical standards as they do about people, culture, and long-term sustainability.
You will be the Clinical Director, but more than that, the figurehead. The person who sets the tone, builds the team, and defines what exceptional care feels like for both clients and colleagues. You will have real autonomy within a supportive wider leadership team, giving you the space to lead in a way that feels authentic to you.
Why This Role Is Different
A True Start-Up Environment
This is a brand-new clinic, designed from the ground up. You are not inheriting problems. You are creating solutions, systems, and culture from day one.
Leadership With Real Influence
You will directly line manage the vet team, Head Nurse, and Practice Manager. From clinical standards to team development and strategy, your voice genuinely shapes the direction.
Clinical Focus Still Matters
You will spend around 80 percent of your time clinically, staying hands-on while leading from the front. This is not a desk-only leadership role.
A Business You Can Understand and Influence
You will work closely with budgets, KPIs, and the P&L. The focus is clear. Time to break even and sustainable growth. You are trusted to influence how that happens.
A Culture That Prioritises People
From wellbeing conversations to open communication systems like VetSafe, this is a team that takes psychological safety seriously, not just as a concept but in practice.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month
You will focus on building relationships, understanding the wider group’s model, and embedding yourself within the clinic’s early culture. You will begin shaping how the team works together.
In Your First 3 Months
You will be confidently leading clinical delivery, supporting team development, and influencing membership growth and client experience. You will start to refine systems and processes.
In Your First 6 Months
You will be a fully established leader, driving both clinical excellence and business performance. You will have shaped a cohesive team, contributed to strategic direction, and created a clinic that reflects your standards.
