An Experienced Midwife is a registered healthcare professional who provides expert care to women and babies during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period. Experienced midwives often mentor junior staff, manage complex cases, and may take on leadership or specialist responsibilities.
Job Description
Typical responsibilities include:
- Providing antenatal, intrapartum (labour and birth), and postnatal care.
- Monitoring the health of mothers and babies throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
- Assisting with normal deliveries and recognizing complications that require medical intervention.
- Educating and supporting families on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Administering medications and carrying out clinical procedures within their scope of practice.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and care plans.
- Supervising student midwives and newly qualified staff.
- Working closely with obstetricians, neonatal teams, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Responding quickly to maternity emergencies and ensuring safe, evidence-based care.
Pay: £3,100.00-£3,750.00 per month
