Orchardlea Foods is a long-established, family-owned food wholesaler based in Exeter. For many years we've supplied quality chilled, frozen and ambient foods to businesses throughout the South West, alongside preparing many of our products in-house through our own slicing, cutting and packing facilities.
As our busiest summer season approaches, we're looking for a reliable, customer-focused Temporary Set-Drop Van Driver to join our team for an 8-week contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for summer work, between permanent roles, semi-retired, or simply looking for a short-term position with the possibility of future relief work.
You'll be delivering to a regular customer base across Devon, Somerset and Cornwall using one of our modern small to medium-sized company vans.
The Role
As one of our drivers, you'll be the face of Orchardlea Foods. Building positive relationships with our customers is just as important as making deliveries on time. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys meeting people, and consistently delivers outstanding customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering customer orders safely, accurately and on time.
- Providing friendly, professional customer service on every delivery.
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety inspections before each shift.
- Driving responsibly and economically while maintaining our excellent safety standards.
- Keeping your vehicle clean, tidy and refuelled.
- Checking deliveries carefully to ensure order accuracy and minimise errors.
- Reporting any delivery issues, stock concerns or vehicle defects to the office.
- Safely handling cash and completing end-of-day banking and reconciliation procedures.
- Assisting the office team when required.
- Manual handling, including lifting and carrying food products.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Reliable with excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- Friendly, professional and customer-focused.
- Good communication, numeracy and literacy skills.
- Honest, trustworthy and able to handle cash responsibly.
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying food deliveries.
- Evidence of commitment and stability in previous employment.
Desirable
- Previous multi-drop van driving experience.
- Knowledge of routes throughout Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.
