Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of hygiene. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality and culinary sectors, particularly those with an interest in food preparation, cooking, and restaurant service. Previous kitchen or hotel experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. All roles are paid positions, including internships.
Responsibilities
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or kitchen supervisors
- Ensuring the cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas within the kitchen
- Supporting the organisation and storage of ingredients and supplies
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Maintaining a tidy work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations
Skills
- Experience or interest in food preparation and cooking
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and detail
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy service times
