Key Requirements
- Experience: Proven background supervising transport operations (curtain-sided Rigids experience is a plus).
- Compliance & Routing: Strong grasp of UK transport routes, HGV Working Time Regulations, and Driver CPC legislation.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and logical problem-solving abilities in a high-pressure environment.
The Role
A hands-on role managing daily transport operations for a specialist horticultural wholesaler. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will tackle dynamic logistical challenges, manage the fleet, and lead the driver team to meet customer expectations efficiently.
Core Responsibilities
- Routing & Logistics: Plan and schedule daily deliveries using the company fleet and third-party carriers.
- Team Management: Line manage drivers, conduct briefs/debriefs, and strictly monitor tachograph compliance and driving hours.
- Fleet & Compliance: Oversee vehicle maintenance and ensure strict adherence to all transport regulations.
- Operations: Handle transport enquiries, coordinate with the supply chain, and develop strategies to cut costs and boost efficiency.
