Overview
We are seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver Tramper to join our logistics team.
This role involves long-distance freight transportation, mainly using curtain-sider trailers, with a focus on delivering goods safely, efficiently and on time across various locations.
The successful candidate will have strong driving skills, a professional attitude and a clear commitment to safety, reliability and good customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles with curtain-sider trailers in compliance with all road safety and transport regulations.
- Conduct daily vehicle and trailer checks to ensure safety and roadworthiness before starting work.
- Check curtains, straps, buckles, tyres, lights and general trailer condition before each journey.
- Safely load, secure and unload cargo where required, following proper handling and load security procedures.
- Plan routes effectively to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, deliveries and vehicle inspections.
- Comply with tachograph regulations and working time legislation.
- Assist with loading and unloading when required.
- Report any vehicle defects, trailer issues, accidents or delays promptly to management.
- Maintain a professional standard when dealing with customers, sites and other road users.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence.
- Valid CPC card.
- Valid digital tachograph card.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver.
- Experience with curtain-sider trailers and delivery operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, tachograph rules and load security.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to plan routes efficiently.
- Ability to work independently over long distances and varied schedules.
- Flexibility to undertake tramper shifts, including nights away from home.
- Good communication skills and the ability to provide clear updates when required.
- Experience driving in different weather and road conditions is desirable.
