Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our early years nursery on a monthly rolling contract temporary basis while our manager is not available. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and fostering a nurturing environment. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for ensuring high standards of childcare, staff supervision, and programme development, all while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. Duties
- Lead and manage the nursery team, including recruitment, training, and performance reviews
- Develop and implement educational programmes that support children's development and learning
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and health & safety standards
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes children's well-being and development
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and nursery activities
- Organise staff rotas, manage resources, and oversee daily operational tasks
- Monitor the quality of care provided, ensuring it meets organisational standards and policies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the nursery setting
- Maintain accurate records related to children's progress, staff schedules, and regulatory documentation
- Support staff in managing behavioural issues sensitively and effectively
Experience
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices, early childhood education principles, and relevant legislation
- Experience working directly with children, demonstrating understanding of their developmental needs
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting supplies or attending external meetings or training sessions
- Previous experience working with children in childcare or nursery environments is essential
