Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our client's Operations team. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of a fast-moving warehouse and distribution environment.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple operational functions, ensuring company targets and customer requirements are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead teams across several departments, maintain high standards of health and safety, and drive continuous improvement throughout the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple operational functions, including stock accuracy, customer returns, and pick-face replenishment.
- Implement and monitor processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of inbound and outbound operations.
- Manage, motivate, and develop teams, providing coaching and performance feedback at all levels.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse environment.
- Produce and analyse operational performance reports, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Resolve operational challenges and investigate issues affecting service, productivity, or customer satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
- Provide guidance and oversight to operational support functions, ensuring effective day-to-day performance.
- Support resource planning activities to align staffing and operational capacity with business demands.
- Manage and optimise container utilisation and associated logistics processes.
Requirements
- Previous senior management experience within a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment (minimum 5 years).
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and best practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and planning abilities.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A Diploma in Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
