Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced and compassionate Senior Staff Nurse to join an Outpatients department within a modern private hospital setting in Kent.
This is a full-time permanent position suitable for a registered nurse who has strong clinical experience and is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will support the Outpatients Manager / Sister with the day-to-day running of the department, clinical leadership, staff support, and delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
The role requires someone who can work confidently in a fast-paced outpatient environment while maintaining a patient-centred approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of patient-centred care within the Outpatients department
- Support health promotion, discharge planning, and patient education
- Provide visible clinical leadership and support to nursing and clinical staff
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the department when required
- Support junior staff, students, and learners through supervision and mentoring
- Help ensure staff competency, development, and mandatory training compliance
- Maintain safe, clean, and effective care environments
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Act as a positive role model and patient advocate
- Support safe medication management in line with policy
- Assist with clinical audits, quality improvement, and service development
- Take responsibility as a link nurse or lead for a specialist area where required
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and wider multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
- First Level Registered Nurse
- Active NMC registration
- Significant post-registration experience in a relevant clinical specialty
- Previous outpatient, hospital, surgical, or private healthcare experience preferred
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching / mentoring qualification preferred
- ILS training, or willingness to undertake
- Competency in phlebotomy and ECG monitoring
- Strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office and web-based systems
- Patient-focused, professional, and detail-oriented approach
- Flexible and able to work effectively under pressure
