Now Hiring: Ecology Manager Lower Thames Crossing Project Start Date: Mid July £500 per day Hybrid Working – 4 Days Site / 1 Day Remote
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ecology Manager to join one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects — the Lower Thames Crossing.
We are seeking a highly motivated ecology professional to lead and coordinate all ecological activities across the project, ensuring environmental compliance and successful delivery of mitigation and habitat management works.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site-based Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) team and ecology resources
- Manage subcontractors involved in habitat and landscape management
- Produce and review ecological method statements, risk assessments, and protected species mitigation strategies
- Conduct ecological surveys and protected species site inspections
- Monitor ecology compliance and investigate/report ecological incidents
- Deliver toolbox talks and provide ecological advice to construction teams
- Support habitat creation and site reinstatement works
- Liaise with stakeholders, local authorities, and environmental teams
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licences, and company procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in Ecology or related discipline Extensive construction ecology/environmental compliance experienceExperience supervising ECoW teams and subcontractorsStrong understanding of protected species licensing and mitigationExperience producing ecological appraisals and method statementsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills Strong organisational skills with ability to manage changing priorities High level of computer literacy Full membership of CIEEM (or working towards)
