The role – Year 5 Class Teacher
You will take responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and well-sequenced lessons that support pupils to make strong academic progress whilst preparing them successfully for Upper Key Stage 2 expectations. There is a clear focus on maintaining high standards, creating purposeful learning environments and ensuring all pupils are challenged and supported to achieve their potential.
You will work closely with colleagues across the phase to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery, assessment and pupil outcomes whilst contributing positively to wider school life.
What you will be doing
- Leading a Year 5 class with strong curriculum coverage and clear progression
- Planning engaging, purposeful and appropriately challenging learning experiences
- Using assessment effectively to inform teaching and identify next steps
- Supporting all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils, to achieve their potential
- Creating a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency across Upper KS2
- Building strong relationships with pupils, families and staff
- Contributing positively to the wider life of the school community
The ideal candidate – Year 5 Class Teacher
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has strong experience teaching in KS2, ideally Upper KS2 or Year 5
- Demonstrates secure curriculum knowledge and confident classroom practice
- Has high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
- Uses adaptive teaching to support a range of learning needs
- Is reflective, motivated and committed to improving outcomes for all pupils
- Works effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team
