About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Kingston is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD SEN Teacher to join their team from September. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) within a supportive, multidisciplinary, and well-resourced environment.
The school caters for pupils with PMLD, complex medical needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, Autism (ASC), and profound communication difficulties. The successful candidate will deliver highly personalised learning experiences focused on communication, sensory engagement, independence, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with PMLD
- Develop personalised learning programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Support pupils' communication, sensory development, and independence skills
- Use a range of communication methods including AAC, PECS, Makaton, and Intensive Interaction
- Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, nursing staff, and wider professionals
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress against personalised targets
- Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, and multidisciplinary planning
- Support pupils with complex medical, physical, and communication needs
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching within SEN or mainstream education
- Strong understanding of differentiated and personalised learning approaches
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Ability to support pupils with profound and complex learning needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience teaching pupils with PMLD and complex medical needs
- Knowledge of AAC, Makaton, PECS, Intensive Interaction, and sensory-based learning
- Experience within a specialist SEN school environment
- Understanding of multidisciplinary working and therapeutic approaches

Pay: £195.69-£322.25 per day
