Retail Sales Assistant Vacancy
· Contract: Fixed Term until 5th Sept 2026
· Contracted hours: 12hours over 3 days. However, the ideal candidates will be available to work across any 7 calendar days to meet the needs of the business; flexibility is essential.
· Variable shift times: between 7.00am - 6pm (flexibility required).
· Pay: £12.71 per hour during probation period. (£13.10 on passing successful probation).
· Duties: You must be able to confidently fulfil all aspects of the job description .
· About you: The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with food, in retail, or in a customer facing role, although full training will be provided. You will need to be polite, enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated. You will be comfortable working independently on tasks, as well as part of a team. You will be adaptable and able to react to changing priorities.

JOB PROFILE:
- Operate the till, including normal sales, handling multiple methods of payments, and also including other till functions such as voids, returns and similar functions that might normally be expected in a shop environment, to include banking and cashing up. (Concessions only – Scales/PLU machine operation)
- Be trained and confident in security procedures with regards to the opening and closing of the shop where appropriate.
- Serve customers as normally required in a shop environment. Develop an understanding of sales skills in a shop environment sufficient to provide an effective level of customer service and performance.
- Develop an understanding of the products sold in the shop sufficient to provide an effective level of customer service.
- To be aware of promotional activity within the shop and to be active in engaging in promotions.
- Encourage additional sales by using add on and up-selling techniques.
- Take an active role in stocking shelves according to company procedures and policies. Particular attention to rotation is critical.
- Take an active role in maintaining effective stock controls, and in ensuring continued stock supply, and in maintaining stock record accuracy.
- Contribute to the general tidiness and cleanliness of the shop and conform to associated company procedures and policies paying particular attention to cleaning records. Participate in the housekeeping of all shop areas.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions, in order to achieve improvements in all aspects of the shops performance both individually and as a member of the shop team.
- Be flexible and mobile within a reasonable radius of your base shop.
- Willingly working on any task within the shop environment or in support of shop sales.
- Take an active role in ensuring quality of your own work conforms to any laid down standards.
- Be competent in oven operation and fully understand and deliver the Rowes standard in bake-off.
- Take an active part in any performance measurement, enabling the company to improve.
- Actively learn and implement new ideas, methods and skills.
- Comply with and implement where appropriate all of the organisations policies and procedures.
- Be able to administer and comply with paperwork procedures pertaining to food safety to include but not limited to: Production Records, Temperature Controls, Waste Records, Delivery Records, Daily Diary sheet.
- To be able to administer via the computer the following processes to include but not limited to Clocking in and out, Confirming deliveries, Placing orders, shorts and overs, Waste, Stock take, Checking Shop Emails.
- Comply in all respects with organisation's policy, procedures and legislation in respect of Health and Safety, Licensing Law and Trading Standards
