SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary Complex Needs
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with complex needs. The role will involve working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to help children access learning, develop communication skills and feel safe, supported and included throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of needs, which may include autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, SEMH needs and personal care. You will help with classroom activities, small group work, 1:1 support, behaviour regulation and building positive relationships with pupils.
Main duties include:
Supporting pupils with complex needs in class and during the school day
Helping pupils to access learning through adapted activities and resources
Using communication strategies such as visuals, symbols or simple language
Supporting emotional regulation, routines and transitions
Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
Providing personal care where required
Keeping pupils safe and following safeguarding procedures
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEND, although a positive attitude, patience and willingness to learn are just as important. You must be nurturing, consistent and able to remain calm in challenging situations
Pay: £95.00-£110.00 per day
