Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and personable Service Advisor/Receptionist to join our busy Family garage. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing appointment scheduling, enquiries, and administrative tasks. This role is to cover absence and holiday leave, combining organisational skills with technical knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth daily operations.
Please note this job has no set hours and will not include weekly hours. This position is holiday and sickness cover on request.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly upon arrival and create a welcoming atmosphere
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule service appointments with accuracy and efficiency
- Provide detailed explanations of services required and upsell additional maintenance or repair options where appropriate
- Handle customer enquiries via phone, email, or in person with professionalism and courtesy
- Manage cash handling duties accurately, including processing payments and issuing receipts
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, vehicle information, and service history
- Liaise with technicians to communicate customer needs and ensure timely completion of work
- Assist in organising the flow of vehicles through the service centre to optimise productivity
- Keep the reception area tidy and well-stocked with relevant materials and promotional items
Requirements
- Proven experience in customer service roles, ideally within the automotive industry or similar environment
- Mechanical knowledge or understanding of vehicle systems is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
- Organised with strong attention to detail to manage appointments and administrative tasks effectively
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills and expanding technical knowledge
