Job Overview
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented AML Assistant to join our compliance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining anti-money laundering policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and safeguarding the Branch against financial crimes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in banking, accounting, and compliance management to contribute to our organisation’s integrity and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
· Establish, implement and maintain adequate policies and policies and procedures designed to detect any risk of failure by the bank to comply with its obligations under the regulatory system and for countering the risk that the bank might be used to further financial crime.
· Conduct thorough investigations of suspicious transactions and activities in accordance with AML policies.
· Access and overseeing the Branch's compliance with the regulator's rules on systems and controls that prevent the Branch being used for money laundering and terrorist financing purposes.
· Prepare and submit regulatory reports accurately and within designated deadlines to Head Office and Authority.
· Reporting any suspicious activity or transaction to the National Crime Agency (NCA) by completing and submitting a Suspicious Activity Report and provide additional information to NCA when required.
· Requesting the NCA for consent to continue with any transactions that they’ve reported, and making sure that no transactions are continued illegally.
· Collaborate with relevant departments to develop, review, and update AML policies and procedures.
· Advise and assist relevant persons responsible for carrying out regulated activities to comply with the bank's obligations under the regulatory system.
· Training staff in preventing money laundering and following regulation.
· Maintain comprehensive records of investigations, reports, and compliance activities for audit purposes.
Qualifications:
· More than 1 years’ experience across financial markets regulatory obligations
· Relevant qualifications in finance, accounting, or compliance are desirable but not mandatory.
· Excellent relationship and communications skills, with ability to help drive regulatory compliant and commercially viable solutions.
· Ability to update fit-for-purpose compliance policies, procedures, and controls, perform targeted compliance testing, and manage regulatory filings.
· Eligible to work in the UK.
· Good communication in English, and Chinese will be a plus.
· Self-motivated; team player; good communication skills; circumspection; ability to work independently; dependable; flexible.
· Have to work in the office (No chance to WFH).
About our bank:
Staff: 15
Our Head Office, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank was founded in 1905, established over 120 years. And London Branch was established in March 1993, focusing on wholesale business, i.e. corporate loans & bond investment. We do not provide Internet Banking service, and we are indirect participant for Fast payment system and BACS system. Almost existing customers have long term relationship, only few new customers in recent three years.
For Retail:
We provide deposit/remittance service to retail customers, and there is no mortgage, no any other products related to retail customers.
For Corporate Loan:
1. Syndication or SSD: Now we have less than 80 customers. We participate syndication primary market or secondary market arranged by other banks.
2. Bilateral Loan: We provide corporate loans to UK company whose parent company is in Taiwan.
For Trade Finance:
We only provide L/C issuing and export negotiation.
Pay: £2,500.00-£2,900.00 per month
Work Location: In person
