Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior / Associate Structural Engineer to join our growing team in the Chichester office. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing various structural engineering projects from conception through to completion. You will utilise your expertise in project management and engineering design to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a passion for innovative engineering solutions. The role involves leading design work, supporting junior engineers, and working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and well-considered solutions.
Salary negotiable, dependent on experience.
Requirements
- A degree in Structural Engineering or related engineering field.
- Proven experience in project management within the structural engineering sector.
- Proficiency in engineering design using AutoCAD and Tekla Structural Designer or similar.
- Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of engineering principles and mathematics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with attention to detail.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in a relevant professional body is preferred.
- Experience of leading a team preferable.
- Lead and deliver structural engineering projects across multiple sectors.
- Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with UK standards, regulations, and best practice.
- Coordinate with civil engineers, architects, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor and support technicians, junior and intermediate engineers.
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and business development activities.
- Maintain high standards of quality and professionalism across all work.
- Chartered or nearing Chartered status (IStructE or equivalent).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a structural engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong design experience in steel, concrete, timber, masonry, and composite structures.
- Sound knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, and British Standards.
- Confident communicator with strong technical and leadership skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
