Job Title: Residential Support Worker – Residential Childcare

Hours: Full-time, rota-based (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
Salary Structure
Unqualified / Less Experienced
- £12.75 per hour (£26,520 per annum)
- After probation: £13.00 per hour (£27,040 per annum)
Qualified / Experienced
- £14.00 per hour (£29,120 per annum)
- After probation: £14.25 per hour (£29,640 per annum)
Sleep-ins: £60 per sleep-in
Role Overview
We are looking for committed and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join our team supporting children and young people within a residential care setting. You will provide day-to-day care, guidance, and emotional support, helping young people feel safe, valued, and supported to achieve positive outcomes.
This role is suitable for both qualified/experienced candidates and those with relevant residential experience looking to develop their career in childcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, child-centred care to children and young people
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model
- Support young people with daily routines, education, activities, and appointments
- Implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
- Maintain accurate daily records, logs, and incident reports
- Promote safeguarding and follow all policies and procedures
- Support children through emotional and behavioural challenges
- Work as part of a team to maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
- Participate in shift work, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in a care setting
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work a rota-based schedule
- Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in residential childcare or working with EBD / complex needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches
