Overview
Due to continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced Quarry Operative to join our team.
Applicants must have previous hands-on experience splitting and dressing natural stone.
This is an essential requirement and applications without relevant stone quarry or stonemasonry experience will not be considered.
Experience working in an aggregate quarry is not suitable for this role.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Stone splitting and dressing
- Stone masonry
- Stone sawing
- Manual handling and heavy lifting
- Working within a production quarry environment
The role involves a variety of duties including cropping, sawing, finishing, packing and loading stone products.
Responsibilities
- Split, dress and finish natural stone to required standards
- Operate quarry machinery and stone processing equipment safely and efficiently
- Carry out stone sawing, cropping and masonry-related tasks
- Pack and prepare orders for loading and dispatch
- Assist with loading and unloading materials
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Work efficiently to production deadlines
- Follow all site health and safety procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience splitting and dressing natural stone
- Previous experience working in a stone quarry or stonemasonry environment
- Ability to undertake heavy manual work
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and reliable timekeeping
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Stone masonry experience
- Experience operating stone saws or quarry machinery
- Experience with cropping or finishing equipment
