This is a senior leadership opportunity to lead a high-profile portfolio of Women’s and Neonatal services, including Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal services, at a pivotal point in service transformation and growth. The postholder will provide visible, values-led leadership across complex, high-demand services, delivering improvements in safety, quality, access, workforce sustainability and financial performance. The role requires strong operational leadership across urgent, elective and maternity pathways, ensuring services meet national standards including maternity safety requirements, neonatal quality metrics and elective recovery targets. The successful candidate will work in partnership with Clinical Directors, Heads of Midwifery and Nursing, and senior leaders to ensure delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care across, the full maternity pathway, from antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care through neonatal services. Crucially, this role requires someone who develops and takes teams with them, building capability, confidence and a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, while consistently role‑modelling and living the Trust’s HEART values.
o Lead directorate teams in the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality, patient- centered services, including strategic planning, service development, and change management initiatives.
o Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust internal controls to ensure effective financial management and resource allocation in alignment with the Trust’s financial plan and governance requirements. This includes delivering contracted activity levels, managing pay and non-pay expenditure within agreed budgets, achieving cost-improvement targets, and supporting service-line profitability.
o Lead the development and execution of business planning, ensuring continuous service improvement, enhanced quality, and financial efficiency.
o Lead the implementation of capital schemes and service developments within the assigned portfolio, ensuring adherence to procurement processes and the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
o Establishing and maintaining effective structures and control systems for staff management, encompassing recruitment, appraisals, development, and support, in line with the Trust's HR policies and procedures.
o Establishing and maintaining effective governance systems in collaboration with the Head of Nursing, Head of Operations and Clinical Director/Lead to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical outcomes and exceptional patient experiences.
