Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Start Date: August 2026
Pay: £95–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time | Long-Term | Term Time Only
The Role
Progress Teachers are working with a welcoming primary school in Loughborough to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for an August 2026 start. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and complex learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive within the classroom.
This role will involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and within the classroom, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support and targeted interventions.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children with ASC, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs
- Confident delivering 1:1 support and targeted interventions
- Calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with EHCPs and additional learning needs
- Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, literacy, numeracy and communication
- Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Promote pupil confidence, independence and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO to monitor progress
