Resident Fellow (24/7 On-Site Cover) & Non-Resident Shifts Available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care for Oncology inpatients and outpatients
- Conduct patient assessments and clinical evaluations (Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy) alongside Consultants and MDT colleagues
- Support prescribing, including rewriting drug charts and preparing TTOs
- Work closely with Consultants and nursing staff to support treatment and symptom management
- Manage acute oncological conditions, including:
- Neutropenic sepsis
- Treatment-related toxicities
- Other oncological emergencies
- Participate in ward rounds, MDT meetings, and unit discussions
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records for audit and reporting
- Respond to urgent clinical issues in the absence of the admitting Consultant
- Contribute to the Acute Oncology Steering Group
Criteria
- GMC registered doctor with 2 years UK experience
- Ability to assess and manage acute oncological presentations
- Competence in routine clinical procedures
- Ability to interpret investigations (bloods, gases, ECG, CXR)
- Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
- A professional, motivated, and collaborative approach
- Confidence managing deteriorating patients
- Comfortable working independently overnight and out-of-hours
- Valid ALS
