We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Assistant Manager to join our team at the Caterprep site in Penrith, supporting caterers across Cumbria, Scotland and the North of England.
This is a hands-on operational role based within our busy prepared fruit and vegetable production facility. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time operating machinery, overseeing prep processes and ensuring that products meet our high quality hygiene and safety standards.
You’ll play a key part in keeping production running smoothly, ensuring maximum product availability, maintaining compliance and supporting team members day to day. Office-based administration will only be required when covering for the Head of Production.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on the production floor, operating machinery and supporting prep room activities.
- Lead by example to maintain high productivity and quality standards.
- Monitor product quality throughout the day and ensure compliance with food safety and Health & Safety procedures.
- Support stock control, ordering and storage to maintain product freshness and accurate records.
- Carry out regular process checks, record data accurately and maintain traceability.
- Ensure equipment and work areas are maintained in safe and hygienic condition.
- Assist with departmental admin in absence of the Head of Production.
- Uphold BRC and company standards at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production or manufacturing, ideally within fresh produce or similar environments.
- Comfortable operating machinery and working full-time in a fast-paced production setting.
- Strong understanding of food safety, Health & Safety, and due diligence requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to achieving high standards.
- Good record-keeping and organisational skills; able to complete basic administrative duties as required.

Hours: Monday to Friday rota (flexible approach to shift pattern as operational between 4.30am to 4.30pm)
