About the role
We’re looking for a Gated Business Lifecycle Manager to play a central role in shaping how Balfour Beatty governs and delivers its work across the UK. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the heart of decision‑making, driving the effective use of our Gated Business Lifecycle framework to support better outcomes from early sales through to project delivery.
Working in close partnership with senior leaders and business units, you’ll ensure the framework is consistently applied, practical to use and fully embedded across the organisation. By combining governance oversight with data‑driven insight, you will help improve performance, reduce risk and unlock greater value across the lifecycle.
The location for this role is UK flexible, with a mix of office-based and home working in line with our flexible working policies.
What you'll be doing
- Drive adoption and consistent application of the Gated Business Lifecycle framework across the business
- Analyse performance, compliance and trends to provide clear, data‑driven insights that inform decision‑making
- Lead governance and assurance activity, overseeing stage gate adherence and facilitating robust review forums
- Shape and deliver continuous improvement of the framework, ensuring it remains practical and value‑adding
- Oversee the development and enhancement of the GBL digital system, improving usability and reporting capability
- Partner with business leaders and communities of practice to embed a positive and effective governance culture
- Provide regular reporting on framework performance, utilisation and compliance across the UK business
- Influence stakeholders at all levels to drive engagement, accountability and improved outcomes
- Lead cross‑functional working groups to evolve processes and share best practice
- Line manage and develop direct reports, building capability within the team
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience working with governance, lifecycle or stage‑gate frameworks in a complex organisation
- Demonstrable track record of driving adoption and consistency across multiple teams or business units
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in performance reporting, trend analysis and insight generation
- Experience of process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies
- Confident stakeholder manager, able to influence and challenge at senior levels without direct authority
- Ability to balance governance rigour with operational practicality
- Experience within bid, project or programme environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful business insight
