Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dog Grooming Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting professional groomers in delivering high-quality grooming services, ensuring the comfort and safety of our canine clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent handling skills, and the physical capability needed for daily tasks. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal care and grooming within a friendly and professional environment.
The majority of our clients are dogs, although we do occasionally groom cats. Experience with prepping dogs is essential, and additional experience with cats is preferred.
Duties
- Prepare dogs for grooming, which includes preclipping, bathing, brushing out and fluff drying, nail clipping and ear cleaning. All tasks must be completed to a high and professional standard
- Prepare grooming stations and ensure all equipment is clean and well-maintained
- Safely handle animals during grooming, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the salon
- Provide help to our groomers were needed with difficult or older dogs unable to stand
- Occasional help may be required with other aspects of the business, including but not limited to; serving customers, answering the phone, restocking the store, processing deliveries, processing booking requests.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in grooming preparation is essential. This role is for a candidate who is ready to complete the tasks with a small amount of guidance. Experience may be working in another salon, or completing a relevant grooming qualification.
- Genuine love for animals and a compassionate attitude towards pets and their owners
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Physical strength and stamina to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

We are looking for a full time grooming assistant, working 9-6 Tuesday to Saturday. For the right applicant, we may consider a part time role if this is preferred.
