Salford Van Hire Limited are one of the country’s leading vehicle rental and contract hire companies who have been trading for 60 years and due to ever increasing workloads and expanding our workforce we are looking to recruit additional class 1 shunter drivers who will be based within our newly built facility in Crumpsall.
Duties include, but not limited to;
· Ensuring safe movement of trailers and vehicles around the site and between sites.
· Performing routine walkaround inspections, reporting vehicle faults and following H & S protocols and guidelines to carry out these movements.
· Coupling and uncoupling trailers/connecting disconnecting tractor units and trailers
· Manoeuvring laden and unladen trailers
· Aiding with movements around the MOT bays and testing bays
· Moving trailers and HGV vehicles between parking areas, bays and vehicle wash areas
· Liaising with the Transport supervisor, site supervisor and manager, MOT test station staff and Head Office to ensure smooth and efficient operations
· Some deliveries and collections during the Company’s very busy times
The right candidate should have held their H.G.V. Class 1 licence for at least 18 months, must have their Tacho card, and preferably have their CPC. (Those without CPC will still be considered for this role).
They should be patient and have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations and be able to solve issues in a productive manner. Good attention to detail alongside the ability to communicate clearly and work well with others are necessary for this role.
Hours; Monday – Friday, 8am to 6pm. 5 days per week (but 4 days per week also available).
Rate of pay; £15 per hour.
Overtime available.
