An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasonal ground’s maintenance operative up to Oct 2026 for our parks and open spaces for Newbury Town Council.

Driving Licence is required
Pay will depend on experience and relevant industry qualification up to £12.71 per hour. Hourly Rate is in line with government national minimum wage age brackets.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Grass cutting (ride on and pedestrian) including strimming
- Shrub and Border Maintenance including pruning & weeding
- Hedge cutting
- Leaf and Litter picking
- Sweeping/cleansing
- Herbicide application
- Line marking
- Fine turf maintenance
- A full range of horticultural work as required by the contracted works.
Essential:
- The ability to be able to work independently but also as part of a wider team.
- Reliable, energetic and enthusiastic with a determined, flexible and "can-do" attitude.
- Good eye for detail.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within Grounds Maintenance or similar activity
- Level 2 Horticultural qualification
- PA1/PA6 qualification.
- Machinery experience
