Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team at The Penycae Inn. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety standards, and team management are maintained at the highest level. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in menu development, staff training, and maintaining a vibrant, efficient kitchen environment.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily operations and high standards of food preparation and presentation
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, catering to diverse customer preferences
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to food safety regulations
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs effectively
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to enhance skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safety procedures
- Monitor cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen to comply with health and safety standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development
Experience
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation
- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse groups of staff
- Previous experience working in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential
- Experience in menu creation and culinary innovation is advantageous
- Familiarity with serving procedures and customer service excellence is beneficial
