The Role
Fast Forward School is seeking an exceptional and driven SENCO to join our growing independent school in Hull, specialising in Alternative Provision and SEND education.
Fast Forward School supports learners who have struggled in mainstream settings, many of whom present with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs). Our curriculum is vocationally focused, highly relational, and designed to re-engage young people through real-world learning.
This is a key leadership role for someone who is passionate about inclusion, outcomes, and building systems that genuinely transform lives.
As SENCO, you will:
- Lead and oversee SEND provision across the school
- Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
- Manage EHCP processes, annual reviews, and statutory documentation
- Work closely with the Head of School and senior leadership team
- Support teachers in adapting curriculum and delivery for learners with SEMH and SLCN
- Develop high-quality, personalised support plans
- Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
- Track and evaluate the progress of SEND learners
- Lead training and professional development for staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent
- Strong understanding of SEMH and speech, language and communication needs
- Experience working in Alternative Provision or specialist settings
- Knowledge of EHCP processes and statutory responsibilities
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills
- A relational, trauma-informed approach
- High expectations for learner progress and behaviour
