Residential Conveyancer
Remote (UK) | North London Office Option | Full-Time
OTE: £80,000+ (basic + commission) for 3 years + conveyancer who is excellent on the phone, controls expectations early, and keeps files progressing proactively.
Note: If you prefer waiting to be chased, waiting for replies, hiding behind emails, or you don’t enjoy phone calls — this isn’t for you.
You need the gravitas, confidence, and experience to see the wood for the trees. To offer practical legal solutions, rather than going around the houses arguing the small stuff that delays your client’s completion.
You must explain things in a clear, non-legal-jargon way, confidently and directly to clients and estate agents.
⸻
Pay & benefits
- Basic salary: £40,000 – £53,000 (depending on experience)
- OTE: £80,000+ (basic + commission)
- 33 days holiday (25 + 8 bank holidays)
- Up to 12 extra days holiday earned through performance targets
- Remote working full-time (or work from our North London office)
⸻
Support, structure & how we work
You’ll be fully supported by:
- A specialist admin team (so you’re not buried in non-legal admin)
- Set client call appointment times (3 hours per day)
So outside those times you can work uninterrupted and push files forward properly, with more time and less stress on you.
You’ll also work with a sophisticated, award-winning system that strips out the usual admin-heavy conveyancing workload — the kind the profession is actively trying to move away from.
We’ve spent millions building this.
It’s secure, innovative, and AI-ready.
AVRillo is a supportive and stable firm, established 27 years.
⸻
What we actually need
We need a conveyancer who can:
- Get control of the transaction from day one
- Manage client expectations properly (timelines, risks, chain reality)
- Handle pressure from clients in a polite but authoritative manner, without losing control of the file
- Explain issues clearly and tell clients what needs to happen next — concisely, without long, jargon-heavy explanations
- Use phone calls to move things forward, not just email updates
- Work confidently with estate agents
⸻
The job
You’ll be:
- Running your own residential conveyancing caseload from start to exchange
- Working alongside an expert legal title-checking team who will review the first set of contract papers and raise additional enquiries
- Speaking with clients when required to manage expectations and give practical solutions — not arguing academic points that don’t help legal-time completion
- Reassuring clients and keeping them calm, with clear, direct advice
- Proactively chasing progress and removing blockers
- Updating agents properly so chains don’t fall apart
- Using our case management system (training provided)
Post-exchange is handled by an elite specialist team, so your focus is doing what an expert conveyancer does best: driving the legal work forward, controlling expectations early, and getting matters to exchange quickly and cleanly.
⸻
About you
You must have:
- At least 3+ years’ practical residential conveyancing experience
(You don’t have to be a solicitor or licensed conveyancer.)
- Strong organisation and file ownership
- A confident phone manner (clear, calm, firm, polite but direct)
- The ability to take accountability and hit targets — rewarded with high commission payments and extra holiday
⸻
Hours
- Full-time employed role
- 40 hours per week
- 1 hour lunch per day
We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and welcome applications from all candidates.
To help ensure the recruitment process is accessible and that you can participate fully, please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments, equipment, software, or support for the interview, or if you are successful, for the role. As an equal opportunities employer, we will consider any such requests and discuss them with you as needed.
For context, the role operates between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The earlier start allows time to prepare before client communications begin and to participate in internal support and team discussions.
Client-facing communication is managed within structured timeframes during the day, which helps protect your time, reduce interruptions, and manage client expectations effectively.
The role also involves speaking with clients over Teams using video as part of delivering our service. If there are any practical issues with this or the way the role is structured, please let us know.
