Overview
A dynamic and growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Tax Associate Director to join its team in Stockton-on-Tees. This senior leadership role is ideal for a CTA-qualified professional with extensive practice experience and a broad technical background across UK taxation. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-level advisory services while helping shape the firm’s tax strategy and supporting continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients, providing strategic and commercially focused advice
- Deliver high-level advisory services across a wide range of tax matters, including inheritance tax planning, company reorganisations, shareholder planning, and business succession
- Oversee the preparation and review of corporate and personal tax returns, ensuring full compliance with UK tax legislation
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying opportunities for tax planning and risk mitigation
- Support business development initiatives, including networking and identifying new opportunities for growth
- Mentor, develop, and lead junior and mid-level tax staff, fostering a high-performance culture
- Work closely with senior colleagues on strategic tax initiatives and growth plans
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation and provide proactive, forward-thinking advice to clients
Skills and Experience
- CTA qualified (Chartered Tax Adviser) – essential
- Extensive experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong technical expertise across corporate and personal tax, with broad tax knowledge
- Proven experience in inheritance tax planning and company reorganisations
- Demonstrable experience in a senior tax or leadership role with strong advisory capabilities
- Commercially aware with a client-centric approach
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership ability, with experience mentoring and developing team members
